At velvet sofa .co.uk we only use the top grain of the hide and never the underside ‘split’. We offer many different leather types to choose from; antique, distressed or corrected. Our antique leather or ‘rub off’ is rubbed and then sealed at our factory to produce a tonal aged effect, popular on traditional sofas such as the Chesterfield and Regent. Our distressed leathers (or semi-aniline to give them their proper title) are lightly finished to retain and display the natural markings of the hide. They are very natural and therefore will distress with use to produce an aged look.

Our Saddle and New leathers are both distressed leathers. Finally our soft grain and Cambridge leathers are corrected grain leathers, which have been embossed and coated to create a uniform pattern and color. This is the more modern looking of our leathers and features on the majority of our contemporary leather sofas. The soft grain leather is ideally suited to modern homes and offices, and is available in a choice of eight colors, ranging from minimalist white to flamboyant burgundy.

All our traditional leather sofas are hand buttoned by our specialist team of traditional leather upholsterers. The antique leather is then hand rubbed to create that perfect vintage look.
